Position: panoramic, hilly, at 2 km from Merano center; an 11th century castle with a private chapel which dates from the 16th century; it has been a hotel since 1885
The Labers castle lies in a delightful position, amidst the Arcadian landscape of the vineyards of Merano, in the Adige valley, at the 3,000 m altitude of the Giogaia di Tessa, the Alps of the Sarentina Valley and the Naturno Wood. Labers is the place for connoisseurs who are not looking for neither overemphasized luxury nor the jet-set atmosphere.
Its rooms are provided with the latest furnishings, there is a private tennis court and heated swimming pool: but these are not the only attractions of this fairy-tale castle, which dates back to the 11th century.
It which was much appreciated by the expert eye of Ludwig I, the King of Baviera.
The secluded footpaths among the surrounding vineyards and woods of conifers, the architecture featuring acute shapes, the garden in which you can have lunch in the shade of the majestic trees, the wide staircases full of candelabra and halberds, or the dining room and small bar, all add to the spellbinding atmosphere of Labers castle.
Although it lies just a five minute's drive from Merano it is a good distance from the bustle of the spa town which remains beyond the two metre wide town walls.
