The hotel Altura structure is harmoniously set in a natural and still uncontaminated environment at the foot of Mount Altura from which it takes its name; it consists of a series of buildings in a characteristic architectural style reminiscent of the typical stazzi of the Gallura area. Located in the northern tip of Sardinia, in a green and fragrant hillside overlooking the islands of La Maddalena, Caprera and Santo Stefano, immersed in an unspoilt landscape, the hotel Altura is made up of a number of small buildings which house the rooms; the main building where you can find the restaurant, the bar and the common lounge looks onto the swimming pool.
The hotel is also close to the exclusive locality of Porto Raphael, "discovered" in the mid 60's by the Spanish count Raphael de Neville who was navigating in search of a "corner of paradise" to make his own; today, this locality is renowned for its picturesque little square beside the sea and for its villas which peek up from their gardens. All around, there is the typical Mediterranean maquis vegetation and rocks of the most extravagant shapes, having been sculpted for thousands of years by the wind and the rain.
The sandy beach of Sciumara, reached by means of a little path through the green vegetation, is in a deep set little inlet covered with eucalyptus and strawberry trees, juniper and myrtle bushes and by a woodland of holm oaks which reaches right down to the seashore.
